Not Public, But if I Change One Setting It Will Be
Well, I've had it. Rather than walk away and go to a different part of the Internet, my new friends from the UK have decided to start threatening me with legal action.
Perhaps their government will pay for me to fly to England to be tried there.
I received a nice little message from someone, you can read it and my response below. I also began receiving e-mails at home...always pleasant.
That's from Karlos. I was wrong in my last post, it isn't just the Illuminati that run the world in his imagining, it is every secret organization that was ever founded. Including some, like the Jesuits and Masons, which really don't go together.I was educated at the best Grammar School in Kent. To get into that
school one has to achieve grades among the TOP 5% of the UK.
Once again, I will state the FACT that the US is run by the Banks,
those that have the cash. Call them what you want to call them.
Corporations, Federal Banks, call them CBS, call them Columbia, call
them Skull and Bones, call them Satanic, call them Jesuits, call them
Zionists, call them illuminati, call them Free Masons, call them
Masons, call them the Founding Fathers of America, call them Central
Banks - whatever you call them - Rothchilds, Rockafellar and their
associates run your beloved USA and they make a fortune out of War
and you pay taxes to them.I know this and yet you call me idiotic Eurotrash - well, i will
leave you standing in a state of ignorance child
This is painful for me, but I believe one has to drag these things into the light to kill them. Is it defamatory if it's true?
From Dafunk:
Ominous. It occurs to me that I've just devoted several minutes of my life responding to these people, when I should just find a way to block them.Quote : The Vox users Karlos and Dafunk may be in need of psychiatric help. I don't care if using their names is bad form, I really don't. You can read their own testament as to their mental state on my Obama post. You may be in need of legal help if you do not remove these insults Scio
Working on that, while you work on this:
Edit:Dear IAA,
I was so pleased to receive a private message from you. I had almost forgotten how inane and pointless my recent discussion with your friends had been, and your implied threat of legal action brought it all back to me. Let's take it piece by piece.I have read the comments you have made about members of the funkcartel on your post here at Vox. I would like to make a polite request that you remove them as soon as possible.
If you've read those then you should have also read the comments they left on my blog. My comments are a response to their unsolicited attention. Do you follow? I did not seek them out, nor did I intentionally provoke them in a discussion about Barack Obama. Which, I might add, your people ruined. I will absolutely not take down those comments, for two reasons.
1. They are marked as only being available to certain members of Vox, and were from the start. Since Karlos is in my neighborhood, he can see them.
2. Neither you nor any sort of legal authority has the right to moderate my blog. I resent your request.I work as a legal adviser to the artists on 5 record labels which includes the funkcartel members and I know that your comments are an opinion and you have not broken any laws. However, you do seem intent on laying bait and you are making rather insulting accusations about them.
If you are their legal adviser, advise them to shut down their blog. My comments are an opinion, true, and we have already established that I've broken no laws. Are they accusation, or speculation?
You are also making rather unfounded allegations about their mental health which I do find rather alarming.
Again, speculation for the purpose of expressing how senseless they seem.
Karlos can always go to his web browser, type in a different web address, and never return to my section of the Internet again. It's a big place, you know. If Karlos or dafunk insist upon visiting me, they can expect me to express my opinion over and over again. They will in turn leave you alone and that will be an end to it. I understand Karlos has asked that you remove him from your neighbourhood and I hope that you can comply with that request, there is no need not to do so really is there.
You can of course continue to make more insulting and derogatory remarks if you so wish but if you do I will act on their behalf and take appropriate action.
By doing what, precisely? Tell Vox on me? I haven't made the post in question accessible to anyone outside my neighborhood, and I have every right to put these words on a private blog. Sure, it's not nice, but neither were your "clients." And all this begs the question of what you propose to do about this situation from the UK. I don't think they extradite Americans for Internet Arguments.
By the way, I question the veracity of your claim to represent these people. It is all too strange that a group which is beset by legal troubles would find my blog, get into an argument, and then sic their law-dog on me when I hurt their feelings. It seems that only a supremely dense person would put themselves at risk like that. Or a supremely imaginary person.Tell your "clients" to do the sensible thing and walk away. Or, stop making empty threats and tell me what "action" you're going to take. You can do so in the commentary section, after I post this to my public blog.

re: funkcartelDear Vox,
What follows is a private message received from one IAA, claiming to represent various other members of the Vox community in the UK. Apparently in response to a private post of mine in which I criticized these people in an impolite and unpleasant fashion, the closing threat of "appropriate action" led me to question: What kind of action would be appropriate in this circumstance?
Eagerly awaiting your reply,With Kind Regards,

Now it's getting pathetic. And it's also getting boring.
I have been informed by one of scio scios neighbours that the other male voxer is thinking of having a sex change and they may consider marriage to cement their relationship. If anyone else can confirm this please do as I am not sure if this is true or not. It is of course possible though. Maybe scio would like to comment

I'm no libel/slander lawyer, but I don't think they have any grounds to sue you. Seems like their alleged counsel doesn't think so either. I've seen waaaaay worse said on here before. Probably best to just block them and move on with life.
LMAO! Dear lord. Let me start by saying that I find several of their posts to prove them to be either mentally unstable or ignorant. I am not sure which.
People need to learn to discuss and debate LIKE ADULTS.
PS...to Karlos - do you understand what Jesuits are? Do you understand what Mason's are? Perhaps you should educate yourself prior to throwing around conspiracies you have gleaned from mentally unstable conspiracy theorist around the net!
If you go to their various funkcartel, dafunk, etc. sites you notice a trend.
I also find it hilarious that they are threatening you with an impossible legal action, but then actually one-up you on the spreading nasty rumors front. Good luck!
Wow, I leave town and the whole place goes nuts. It was an entertaining read, though; there are all kinds of "interesting" people out there.
For what it's worth at this point, I think you're spot-on (to use a British term) about Obama.
I think karlos, in his idiocy, gave funkcartel a perfectly good example of what libel actually is.
And I thought I found Vox's biggest winner when I stumbled across this guy....
LMAO!!!!
Apparently, I am a "raging lesbian" because I disagreed with them! HeeHee. I even rated my own bash post!
In the US, the standard would be even higher. As you have no malicious intent and as internet speech is considered transitory speech (and thus less subject to be judged libelous than "written speech", such as articles or books) and as you have in no way identified them as persons (just as personas {non gratis}), you have absolutely nothing to fear on this side of the pond.

[1] Why does that sound like a bad 70's band to me?
Scio, you get the nutty ones because you tolerate them, and while ordinarily I'd have been irritated reading about it, this couldn't have happened at a better time because I received a note from a very nice and respectful individual who was upset that I' removed one of Lenny's posts the othe day and threatened to block him.
I explained that I was merely toying with Lenny, but that I would certainly remove anything that wasn't in keeping with what I wanted on my blog, because the other side of the coin, as I explained, and which you now have presented a perfect example of, is that not only do I have to read the garbage, but if I then allow it to be inflicted on others, it takes their timetoo - and then it multiplies itself.
The libel threat is not just ludicrous, it reflects the mindset of a true moron - as opposed to Lenny who merely plays one as the mood suits.- i hope.
And now I shall take my leave and hope you and the individual who wrote me have learned a lesson from this - entertain no swine before his time...
Warm regards,
Ted
Scary and sad. Some people will believe anything their told. It's on the Internets!
After the same rhetoric on any post, I checked their blogs and knew they were trouble.
I just stick with throwing the trash out.
The libel threat, I'm not a lawyer, but I would guess they were unable to win the debate and make you bow to their conspiracies so they or he is aware of the libel suits that an American is under and fighting right now. Plus the bill that is in both houses in N.Y. to prevent other countries from putting Americans under other countries laws. From what I understand the bill that is being worked on right now is only for produced writers. (I may be wrong)
But this would post would be a good read for your state representatives. This threat might get their attention to get your state busy about the business of protecting their citizenry from these threats or actions.
I'd like to ask you if I can print this and give it to some of my representatives. I'm in Oklahoma and we take this kind of talk and threat very seriously.
We do have several in our country actually under libel cases from across the pond. But they are because of books.
Is John a lawyer or a student of American Law?
Yes; in most cases, they are in trouble for publishing or selling the books in England or Japan. Both of these countries have very loose libel laws. Truth in no defense under their laws (as it is here), and the level of harm need not be egregious; personal affront will often do. I remember Uri Geller suing James Randi in Japan for statements Randi made to a Japanese newspaper; he won the suit despite being unable to show harm.

John
I am very interested in the libel cases from across the pond. Please do provide case examples and links. And up to our north. Do you know what the libel laws in Canada are?
Thanks for the information and your insight in this subject.
The best places to start are here and here. A few more notorious cases include Muslims suing over books disparaging jihadists, a politician who got caught with his pants down, and a holocaust denier who forced the defendant to prove that it actually took place. England's laws are notoriously tilted in favor of the claimant, but there are many who would like to change that.
It appears that they are similar to those in England (as are Australia's libel laws).
My pleasure.
John
I wouldnt worry to much about the legal stuff thats usually the 2nd step of any troll, first they try personal attacks then try to intimidate you with their supposed legal abilities. I get them a lot as a moderator in a political forum and nothing ever comes of it.
Also cloaking themselves with multiple accounts using different names is another frequently used tactic.
