Woah - could I ever relate to your post. We were just at Disney World a month ago with our three children and your anaolgy to what it can feel like to be part of the Catholic faith was perfect.

Wishing you and yours a meanigful reaminder of Holy Week and a Blessed Easter!

Amen.
oops- " meaningful remainder" :-)
I got you ;)

A few months back my brother got concert tickets to see one of our favorite bands in Reno on his birthday.

That is where I'll be spending Good Friday, instead of in church as I normally do. While I'm really excited for the concert and to spend my brother's birthday doing something we both love, part of me is really disappointed that I will be missing that service. I feel like we've pretty much lost Holy Week/Maundy Thursday (anyone?)/Good Friday/Easter, which is sad because while Christ's birth is definitely something to be celebrated, his death and resurrection are his defining elements and are essential to what we believe.

Gah. I hope Collective Soul is good tonight.

Maundy Thursday always makes me laugh. Maundy is a great extinct word.

I'm sure Collective Soul will be fine. I saw them at Harborfest in Norfolk back in 2006. They are good live, and I didn't realize how much of the soundtrack of the 90s was their work.

Can you believe CS is still putting out new music? Still, most of it sounds like it's from the 90s. That's probably why I like it so much.

Your post so eloquently describes my feelings as well. And that analogy is perfect. That is how I feel now also. We're going to a live passion drama tonight for a change at my mom's church. I'm looking forward to it. My in-laws are visiting this weekend and are not church-goers. Well guess what - they are going tonight and Sunday!

I've always liked Easter best of the holy days. He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! If He hadn't done it, what would be the point of all the rest?

That does it, I'm going to hit Disneyland at closing time one day this week specifically for this experience. I'm going to call it the 'Catholic Ride at Disneyland' when I describe it to my friends.

This is part of why I like you, W.
